Once upon a time the Brittans were getting bullied by the Picts...

They hired the Saxons who routed the Picts but then moved into Brittany by the thousands. When the brittans couldn't feed the Saxons it became a war. At one point the Brittan's were able to stave off the invasion and from that stronghold the legend of King Arther came.

This inspired the Brittan's for another hundred years until they again had their asses handed to them by the Saxons
